Competition: Europa League qualifier
Market: St Johnstone to win against FK Trakai
Odds: 12/5 @ Bet 365
St Johnstone welcome FK Trakai to McDiarmid Park in the first leg of the first round of the Europa League qualifiers tonight, and are favourites to come out on top given the gulf in class between the two sides. St Johnstone are 189 places better off than Trakai in the UEFA club coefficient rankings and should make it count, especially given the home advantage.
Tommy Wright’s St Johnstone side are coming off the back of three wins from their last four games in their domestic league, boasting three clean sheets. The Scottish outfit last made it past the qualifiers in 1999/2000 but have reached the third round only two years ago to somewhat prove their pedigree.
As for their opponents, Oleg Vasilenko’s FK Trakai are big underdogs ahead of this evening’s clash but aren’t in bad form. The Lithuanian side have won four of their last six games but their inferior club ranking suggests they may struggle to keep St Johnstone at bay. It’s also worth noting the visitors have never made it past the second round of the Europa League qualifiers.
As a result, Bet 365 are giving odds of 4/11 for St Johnstone to win against FK Trakai.
