Standard de Liege reduced their gap with Anderlecht to just one point thanks to a 3-2 win over Dende. Club Brugge were too strong for Mechelen and won 3-0.
Serbian Milan Jovanovic put Standard in the lead after just three minutes but Dender immediately equalised through Oguchi Onyewu.
Almost half an hour had been played when Dieumerci Mbokani restored the home side’s lead but again, Dender reacted right away with Daan de Pever netting for 2-2.
Standard eventually secured the win though as Steven Defour scored his first goal of the season to make it 3-2 in minute 58.
Venezuelan Ronald Vargas was responsible for Brugge’s opening goal versus Mechelen in the 33rd minute, and Antolin Alcaráz doubled the lead half an hour later. The third and final goal came from Jeroen Simaeys with a minute left to play.
As Anderlecht lost to Cercle Brugge a day earlier, their four-points lead over Standard is reduced to just one.
