Inter Milan veteran Dejan Stankovic wants his team to try and restore pride before the end of a disappointing season.
Inter exited the Champions League in the round of 16 at the hands of Marseille on Tuesday, and they sit well off the pace in seventh place on the Serie A table.
They are a distant eight points outside the Champions League qualification places and seemingly have little left to play for this term.
Nevertheless, midfielder Stankovic has called on his team-mates to rally in the final months of the campaign.
“It’s a tough time but we need to go again,” Stankovic told the club’s website.
“Let’s finish this season with our heads held high, proud of what we’ve achieved and of the season itself.”
“We need to take the positives even if we haven’t had big results, and work together, as a unit.”
“As I’ve said, if I think about the future, I’ve got faith because I trust (club president Massimo) Moratti.”
“If I think about the next match, I’m happy to play straight away again at the San Siro, in our stadium.”
“On Sunday we’ve got Atalanta, awkward opponents, they’re having a great season and they have good players. It will be a great game.”
