Il Corriere dello Sport understands that Lazio stopper Stefan de Vrij could soon be leaving Lazio for greener pastures.
The highly rated defender will be out of contract at the end of the season and despite wanting to leave, he was ready to sign a one-year extension at Stadio Olimpico.
But, while Lazio offered to include a release clause in the region of €25m to €30m in the new deal, De Vrij and his agent wanted the amount to be between €15m and €20m.
This is why Il Corriere dello Sport believes that the Dutch defender will not be signing a new contract and will instead leave the club on a free transfer at the end of the season.
A failure to reach an agreement before January 1st could see De Vrij frozen out of the squad like many of his predecessors who had rejected a chance to renew with Lazio.
