La Gazzetta dello Sport is reporting that Dutch defender Stefan de Vrij will be staying at Lazio after all.
The highly rated footballer was expected to leave as his current contract expires in June, but the Biancocelesti hoped they would be able to persuade him to sign a new deal.
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, De Vrij has had a change of heart and decided to accept the latest contract offer.
Under the terms of the agreement, his yearly wage will be increased to €2.5 million, while the release clause will be reduced from €25m to €20m.
Stefan de Vrij is widely regarded as one of Serie A’s leading centre-backs and has so far been linked with Liverpool and Inter Milan.
