Manchester City forward Stevan Jovetic has revealed his disappointment at being left out of club’s Champions League squad.
The Montenegrin striker was surprisingly omitted from the squad to make way for January signing Wilfried Bony, which only added fuel to speculation linking him with a summer exit.
Jovetic is utterly disappointed to have been denied a chance to play Champions League football and admits he may have to leave Etihad at the end of the current campaign.
“I deserve to play in the Champions League. I know that. The manager has killed me with this decision. I feel I deserve my place and other people have told me the same,” Jovetic was quoted as saying in the Sunday Mirror.
“People have told me I am a great player, but it is clear that the manager doesn’t think the same way. I am very disappointed, even now. I don’t think it was a good decision – or the right decision.
“I have not made any decision about my future. I will wait until the summer then we will see. But the manager has put other players ahead of me, so maybe this is a message about what he wants to do.”
It is no secret that the former Fiorentina star has a long list of admirers in Italian Serie A, and his suitors are likely to be alerted by the latest developments.
The 25-year-old never quite managed to develop into an important player for the Citizens, but he did pretty well each time he was given a chance to play.
Jovetic has scored 8 goals in just 11 Premier League starts, while making another 17 substitute appearances.
