Since taking over as manager of struggling Premier League side Crystal Palace, Roy Hodgson has made signing a striker the top priority. The man who seems to have risen to the top of the former England boss’ shopping list is Watford’s Stefano Okaka, and, according to the Sun, a £10m bid could be launched in the coming days.
The Eagles have seen their form improve since Hodgson’s arrival, but they have still scored just 20 goals in 22 Premier League games this season. With Christian Benteke missing various games due to injury, and missing penalties when he has started, it is little surprise that a forward is their priority.
Okaka does seem an odd choice however, particularly because he has only featured six times for the Hornets so far this season, scoring just once. As far as prolific strikers go, Okaka isn’t the first name that springs to mind, but as long as he scores enough goals to keep Palace in the Premier League then the fans won’t really mind.
