Roma keeper Maarten Stekelenburg admits that a move to Juventus was an option before he was sold to Roma.
The former Ajax goalkeeper has revealed that he was contacted by the Old Lady officials during his time at Amsterdam ArenA.
“There was a time in the past when it was thought that Gigi Buffon would leave Juventus,” the Dutchman told Tuttosport.
“That was when I was contacted by the club, but nothing ever came of it.”
The experienced keeper, however, doesn’t regret his decision to accept an offer from Roma.
“I wanted to have an experience abroad and the Roma project was an intriguing one.”
