Roma goalkeeper Maarten Stekelenburg has expressed his delight at joining the club in the summer transfer window.
The Netherlands international left his boyhood club Ajax for Roma ahead of the 2011-12 campaign, and the shot stopper is very pleased with the Serie A side’s progress after a rough start to the season.
“My time at Roma has been fantastic so far,” Stekelenburg said in an interview with Sky Sport Italia.
“My only objective at Roma is winning silverware. That is why I started playing football in the first place.”
“We had some difficulties at the start of the season, because all the new players had yet to settle in. However, we have been doing quite well recently. We have made a lot of progress since the beginning.”
Stekelenburg has made 14 Serie A appearances for Roma so far this term.
