Former Sevilla midfielder Stephane Mbia is nearing a move to Major League Soccer, it has been revealed.

The 31-year-old has been a free agent since leaving Hebei Fortune by mutual consent last month, and he is now looking for a new club.

According to reports, Stephane Mbia is in advanced talks with MLS side Atlanta United, who are in the market for a central midfielder having seen Carlos Carmona move to Colo Colo.

The Cameroonian footballer was seen chatting with Atalanta United chiefs Carlos Bocanegra and Paul McDonough as The Five Stripes hammered Los Angeles FC, which is enough to suggest an agreement is on the cards.

The 31-year-old will bring a considerable quality and experience to the MLS, having starred for Rennes, Marseille, QPR, Sevilla, Trabzonspor and Hebei Fortune in the past.
