Saint Etienne goalkeeper Stephane Ruffier dreams about playing in Italian Serie A, French daily newspaper L’Equipe can reveal.
Despite being linked with a host of foreign clubs, the 30-year-old has so far resisted temptation to leave les Verts and he recently extended his deal with the club.
Ruffier admits that he had better offers from a financial side, but the sporting project in place was just not right.
The experienced shot-stopper could still leave Saint Etienne for greener pastures, and the latest reports suggest that he would enjoy playing in Italian Serie A.
At the same time, Ruffier wants to test his skills in the UEFA Champions League, having failed to qualify for Europe’s elite competition during stints with Monaco and Saint Etienne.
Stephane Ruffier has shown incredible consistency since joining les Verts from Monaco five and a half years ago, and he hasn’t missed a single minute of league football since.
