Former Sunderland and West Bromwich midfielder Stephane Sessegnon is set to join Ligue 1 side Montpellier, the French club have confirmed.
The 32-year-old has been a free agent since leaving the Baggies at the end of last season, and he has since been linked with moves to Everton and Burnley.
However, Montpellier have since emerged as the favourites for his signature and the Ligue 1 side managed to agree personal terms with the attacking midfielder.
Sessegnon has already passed a medical in France and is set to put pen to paper on a two-year deal with la Paillade.
Montpellier vice-president Laurent Nicollin has now confirmed that the deal will be wrapped up in the coming days.
“Everything is ok for us. We agreed on wage conditions and the contract is ready,” Nicollin told Midi Libre.
“Simply put, the player asked for additional 48 hours to sort out some personal matters in London where his family lives.”
Stephane Sessegnon already has Ligue 1 experience, having enjoyed successful spells with Le Mans and Paris Saint-Germain, scoring 15 goals in 121 top flight appearances in France.
