London Evening Standard is reporting that West Ham are set to sign Aston Villa full-back Stephen Warnock.
The player is currently undergoing a medical at Boleyn Ground and is expected to sign for the Hammers in the next 24 hours.
Even if Warnock is currently on a contract at Villa Park, he is expected to join the Hammers on a free transfer, with Villa officials likely to agree to a mutual termination.
Warnock is earning around £40,000 per week, but has failed to make a single appearance for the Villans since his loan deal at Bolton ended in December.
With both George McCartney and Daniel Potts sidelined through injury, West Ham lack cover at the left-back position and have, therefore, made a move on the 31-year-old defender.
In the absence of a better solution, right-back Joey O’Brien has been covering at left-back over the last few weeks.
Former Middlesbrough stopper Emanuel Pogatetz is also undergoing a medical at Boleyn Ground ahead of his move from Wolfsburg.
