Glen Johnson believes Raheem Sterling can cement himself as a Liverpool great for years to come.
The youngster’s first Premier League goal secured the Reds their opening league win of the season against Reading at the weekend.
The 17-year-old Sterling is one of many Liverpool youngsters who have been given a chance to impress in the first team by new manager Brendan Rodgers this term, and subsequently earned a call-up to the senior England squad last month.
And Johnson believes Sterling has the attitude and talent to continue his rise to prominence and become a regular for Liverpool sooner rather than later.
“We were delighted for Raheem to score his first goal and he deserved it,” Johnson told the club’s official club website.
“He just takes everything in his stride and is always willing to learn. He has got fantastic attributes and I’m pretty sure and confident that this won’t be his last goal in the Premier League that’s for sure.
“He is a confident lad every day in training and a good lad as well. He is learning quickly.”
Sterling has featured 15 times for Liverpool so far this season, notching a goal and an assist in seven Premier League appearances.
