Steve Kean is not a Premier League boss

Blackburn Rovers boss Steve Kean has been charged with drink driving. The Scot has struggled to help the club pull away from the Premier League relegation zone and he obviously struggled to pull away from the police as well!

Having a drink and a drive isn’t the only thing he has done wrong in the last few months.

Blame

Rovers are currently just a point above the relegation zone and could be in the Championship come 6PM on Sunday if results go against them.

The manager has to take a large chunk of the blame considering Rovers were in a far better state when Sam Allardyce was in charge.

Style

Under big Sam Allardyce Rovers were criticised for their style of play. They were regarded as a long ball team. They were however seen as a team full of fight and heart. Their style of football may not have won many awards for beauty but it won the club points.

The club were seen as hard to beat and nobody liked playing against Rovers. The Rovers also had a stability about them but since the appointment of Steve Kean they have dropped like a car off a cliff.

Fans

Some fans of the club applauded the decision to fire Allardyce, until they realised that the Indian owners were about to appoint a coach with no managerial experience. Rovers fans were hoping for a big name boss to be appointed and they were disappointed by Kean’s appointment.

The Blackburn fans who celebrated Allardyce’s exit will now be wishing that the former-Bolton boss had stayed for the entire campaign. The fans now have no faith in Steve Kean and it looks like they now want him out of their club.

Inexperienced

Steve Kean at 43 years of age is still relatively young and he has absolutely no managerial experience. He is probably a decent coach and from all accounts within football he is quite well respected.

However he made a massive leap from first team coach to Premier League boss. If he would have learnt his trade further down the football ladder and then got the chance in the top flight then fair enough but he has been appointed out of sheer displaced faith in his ability.

Crazy

The appointment of Steve Kean by Blackburn’s Indian owners was an inexplicable decision. I thought at the time are they trying to ruin their own club? The chicken millionaires came in with big ambition but only seem to be prepared to back their bosses with poultry funds.

They also obviously have no idea about football. To come into the club and replace an experienced boss with a complete novice was a crazy decision.

Survival

Blackburn face fellow strugglers Wolves at Molineux in their final game of the season. Both clubs need to win the game to ensure survival in the Premier League.

They both could survive depending on how Blackpool do away at champions Manchester United. They could both also survive if Birmingham fail to get a result from a tricky trip to Tottenham.

One of their other competitors are 19th place Wigan who travel to Stoke City on the final day. The Latic’s are just one point behind Rovers in the Premier League table. It’s incredibly tight at the bottom and anything could happen.

Sack

If Blackburn do stay up it will be despite Steve Kean’s efforts and not because of them. If Blackburn’s owners have any clue about football then I suggest that they put Steve Kean out of his misery and sack the Scot.

Blackburn are not the biggest club in the English top flight but they can currently do better than Steve Kean. He is simply not yet good enough to be a manager in the Premier League and I think most Rovers fans would agree with me.

Should Blackburn sack Steve Kean this summer?

Couldn’t agree more David. The answer is, yes, Blackburn should bring in a manager to replace him.
