Steven Gerrard wants to sign James Tavernier from Rangers for Al Ettifaq

New Al Ettifaq manager Steven Gerrard wants to sign James Tavernier from Rangers in the summer transfer window, according to 90min. Liverpool legend Gerrard has recently been appointed the new manager of Saudi Arabian club Al Ettifaq, and the former England international midfielder wants to take Tavernier with him.

Gerrard worked with Tavernier when he was the manager of Rangers. The Englishman led Rangers to the Scottish Premiership title during his time at Ibrox. Tavernier has been on the books of Rangers since 2015 and is now the club captain.

Tavernier made 38 appearances in the Scottish Premiership for Rangers last season. The right-back scored 16 goals and gave nine assists in those games. In 2021-22, the right-back scored six goals and gave 12 assists in 31 league matches.

Tavernier is one of the best players at Rangers, and it is unlikely that the Gers will sell him in the summer transfer window.
