Competition: National League
Market: Stockport win
Odds: 3/4 @ 888sport
Looking to extend their stay in the play-off spots on Tuesday night, Stockport will welcome a struggling Eastleigh to Edgeley Park in midweek.
Starting with the hosts, after throwing away a two-goal lead at home against fellow play-off chasers Altrincham over the weekend, Stockport will be desperate to make a return to winning ways in midweek. Eventually having to settle for a point in Greater Manchester on Saturday afternoon, Jim Gannon’s men have still managed to bounce back from that thumping defeat against Hartlepool last month. Knowing that victory on Tuesday night could skyrocket them all the way up to second in the National League table, Stockport have also continued to impress with their extended unbeaten run on home soil. Along with earning an FA Cup showdown against Premier League side West Ham next week, the Hatters are unbeaten in their last five straight contests at Edgeley Park, winning four of those appearances.
As for the visitors, also throwing away the lead late on away at relegation scrappers Weymouth over the weekend, Eastleigh find themselves in the midst of a real sluggish patch. Despite opening the 2020/2021 campaign in a hugely impressive fashion, the Hampshire outfit have certainly come crashing back down to earth. Slipping away from the play-off positions and now battling it out in the bottom-half of the National League table, the Blues have failed to win any of their last six matchups across all formats, a run that stems back to December 1st. With their recent issues highlighted by back-to-back 4-3 and 3-1 defeat at the hands of Wealdstone and Halifax last month, it should also be noted that Eastleigh have failed to win any of their last four straight matchups away from the Silverlake Stadium. With Stockport landing a 2-0 win the last time the two sides faced off, we’re backing a similar outcome in midweek.
