English Premiership side Stoke City have signed left winger Matthew Etherington from West Ham United. The player agreed to a deal that should keep him with the team until 2012.
The 27-year-old began his career at Petersborough United but switched to Tottenham Hotspur in 2003. During his stay with Spurs, he also spent a short loan spell at Bradford.
Etherington joined the Hammers in 2003 and scored 16 goals in 165 appearances. Financial issues forced West Ham to let go of several players though, Etherington being no exception.
Stoke, currently 18th in the Premier League, are reportedly paying 2 million Pounds for the winger.
