Daily Mail has learned that Stoke City have had a bid rejected for FC Porto midfielder Gianelli Imbula.
The Potters have emerged as favourites for the player’s signature after he had been made available for sale, but they have so far been unable to reach an agreement with his employers.
Stoke City recently had a €25 million bid rejected for the 23-year-old footballer, as Porto are reportedly holding out for €50 million.
Imbula joined the Dragons in a big money deal from Marseille in the summer, but he has utterly failed to prove his worth in Portugal.
The Frenchman went on to make just ten league appearances, last starting a Primeira Liga fixture back in October.
Nevertheless, Stoke City and few other top clubs still believe he can develop into a world-class footballer, but persuading FC Porto to sell could prove to be a tough task as they keep referring interested sides to his €50 million release clause.
