Stoke keen to secure Begovic future

Stoke City are hopeful of agreeing a new deal for goalkeeper Asmir Begovic, according to the Mail Online.

The Bosnia and Herzegovina international has been with the Potters since January 2010, racking up one hundred and sixty-seven appearances, while he scored a famous goal in a 1-1 draw with Southampton last season.

A number of Stoke’s Premier League rivals have been previously linked with a move for the 27 year old, who is about to enter the final year of his contract at the Britannia Stadium.

Stoke currently have both England international Jack Butland and Thomas Sorenson competing with Begovic for the number one spot, though Begovic is clearly their first choice having missed just six league games over the past three seasons.

Former Portsmouth man Begovic has been capped forty times for his country, with three of those appearances coming at last summer’s World Cup finals in Brazil.
