Stoke City boss Tony Pulis is keen to keep veteran goalkeeper Thomas Sorensen and says the Dane wants to renew his contract.
The 35-year-old has a year left on his contract at the Britannia Stadium but wants a new offer, with his current deal based heavily on appearances.
Sorensen spent large parts of the last English Premier League season as second-choice to Asmir Begovic.
Pulis said he wanted to hang on to the 95-time Denmark international and negotiations would begin shortly.
“We are in a situation where Thomas has come to us about renewing his contract and that is brilliant for us,” he said on Wednesday.
“Thomas is a vital member of the squad. We will sit down and talk to him and his agent and hopefully get something sorted out.”
Sorensen only made 10 league appearances for Pulis’ side last campaign, but played in their FA Cup run that saw them make their first ever final, which they lost to Manchester City on May 14.
