Hull City signed Nigerian midfielder Seyi Olofinjana from fellow Premier League club Stoke on Thursday.

Olofinjana, who is believed to have cost three million pounds (five million dollars), agreed a four-year contract with Phil Brown’s Tigers after the 29-year-old turned down an approach from Monaco.

Hull also signed American international Jozy Altidore, 19, on a season-long loan from Villarreal, subject to a work permit hearing on Monday, with a view to a permanent deal.

“Seyi Olofinjana joins the Tigers from Stoke City on a four-year deal. Meanwhile, striker Jozy Altidore arrives at the KC Stadium on a season-long loan deal from Spanish side Villarreal,” a statement on Hull’s website confirmed.

Brown admitted he was relieved to have finally made some pre-season signings after missing out on several targets including Darren Bent and Fraizer Campbell.

“I’m over the moon at the fact we have at long last managed to get one or two players into the camp,” he said.

“It has been a long hard slog and it has been a frustrating time for a number of clubs.

“One area we needed to address was goals from midfield and I’m hoping Seyi can help out there.

“Jozy is unproven at this level but has great potential and we hope can fill the void of goals from the front line.”
