The Mirror understands that Stoke City will bid £12m for Middlesbrough defender Ben Gibson.
The centre-back has been linked with a move away from the Riverside Stadium ever since Boro were relegated back to the Championship, and the North East outfit are holding out for a fee of £20m.
However, the Potters are hopeful they can haggle down as they look to strengthen ahead of the new campaign with captain Ryan Shawcross entering the final year of his contract and Bruno Martins Indi yet to sign a permanent deal with the club.
Aside from a trio of loan spells for sides in the lower reaches of the Football League, Gibson has spent his entire career so far with Middlesbrough, racking up one hundred and fifty-three appearances in all competitions and scoring three goals.
He is yet to win his first senior cap for England but was an unused sub in the Three Lions’ recent double header against Scotland and France.
