It was almost a done deal, but in the end, Lazio will not be signing a young centre-back in the final days of the transfer window. As it was previously reported, the Serie A club were very close to confirming the deal for Strahinja Pavlovic, Serbian centre-back who plays for Partizan, but in the end, the Belgrade-based club decided to pull the plug on this deal.
The two clubs had agreed that Pavlovic would go to Lazio in a deal worth 5.5 million euros. The 18-year-old went to Rome to have a medical, which he passed. After Partizan’s Europa League play-off second leg match against Molde, it was expected from the Serbian club to finally announce that the player was sold, staying at the club for the rest of the season, as a loaned player.
That did not happen and on Saturday, Partizan announced why they decided against selling the player. According to them, the structuring of payments did not meet their requirements and Partizan decided they will not sell Pavlovic this summer.
