Daniel Sturridge says although former club Manchester City are now five points clear at the top of the table, he will never regret moving to Chelsea.
The 22-year-old made the move to London in June 2009 and, although things started slowly with the Blues, he has now earned his first senior England call-up for the squad to face Spain and Sweden.
The striker, who has managed four goals in seven games in the Premier League this season, is thankful for his time at City but believes that Chelsea are still the bigger club.
“It was stressful moving from Manchester but I couldn’t turn down Chelsea,” he told The Sun newspaper.
“It’s the biggest club in the Premier League and I’ll never regret it.”
“I’ll never forget what City did for me but Chelsea is my main focus now.”
Chelsea’s next match is a home game against Liverpool after the international break.
The London outfit will be looking for a win to keep the pressure on both the Manchester clubs and Newcastle, who occupy the three places above them.
Sturridge will now be looking to impress Fabio Capello and replicate his club form for the national side, with two friendly games to catch the England manager’s eye.
He faces stiff competition up front with Aston Villa’s Darren Bent and Gabriel Agbonlahor, Fulham’s Bobby Zamora and Manchester United’s Danny Welbeck also in the Italian’s squad for the two friendly games.
