Sturridge in line for bumper new Liverpool deal

Liverpool’s Daniel Sturridge is close to signing a new £150,000-a-week contract with the club, according to the Independent.

The forward, who was today left out of Roy Hodgson’s squad for the forthcoming Euro 2016 qualifiers against San Marino and Estonia as he recovers from injury, is set to become one of the Premier League’s top earners, with his manager Brendan Rodgers ready to reward him for his fine form for the club so far.

He moved to Anfield from Chelsea in January 2013, and has gone on to score thirty-six goals for the Reds in just fifty-two appearances across all competitions.

The 25 year old still has four years remaining on his current deal, though the improved offer would see him tied down until the summer of 2019.

Liverpool, who lost to Swiss champions FC Basel in the Champions League yesterday evening, are priced at 2/5 to beat West Bromwich Albion at Anfield on Saturday afternoon.
