Daniel Sturridge is close to signing a new contract with Liverpool, according to Talksport.
The twenty-nine-year old, who spent the second half of last season on loan at West Bromwich Albion has started the season in fine form for Jurgen Klopp’s side, scoring four goals in nine appearances.
His performances have led to calls for an England recall, but he was spared from selection for each of the last two international breaks.
His last international outing came just over twelve months ago in a 1-0 World Cup qualifying win in Lithuania – his twenty-sixth cap for his country.
The former Chelsea and Manchester City man has played one-hundred and forty-two times for Liverpool in all competitions, scoring sixty-seven goals and is set to add to that tally as he commits his future to the club.
Liverpool travel to Huddersfield Town in Saturday’s late kick-off with the away win priced at 1/3.
