German Bundesliga side Stuttgart have decided to release forward Ciprian Marica from his contract.
The Romanian international’s contract was not due to expire for another year, but the two parties have mutually agreed to rescind the contract.
“We wish Ciprian all the best for his future,” sporting director Fredi Bobic told club’s official website.
The 25-year-old made 93 Bundesliga appearances for the Swabians, scoring 19 goals in the process.
Once being a first team regular, Marica has fallen down the pecking order behind Pavel Pogrebnyak and Cacau, and has only started eight league games last season.
