Manager Markus Babbel stays untouchable at Stuttgart. Despite very poor recent results Babbel has received the full backing of the club bosses.
Stuttgart slumped to a 3-1 defeat at home to Sevilla on Tuesday to leave them with just two points from their first three UEFA Champions League games. As well as facing early European elimination, Stuttgart have dropped to 13th in the Bundesliga after four defeats in their past five games.
“Questions may arise, but we will answer them clearly: we trust Markus Babbel,” chairman Horst Heldt told Kicker.
“Babbel is the right man for us but it’s obvious we need results. The team is our weakest link; not the manager.”
Babbel is happy to receive the board’s confidence.
“But I do want to pay them back; with wins,” concluded the former Liverpool player.
