Ajax’s Uruguayan striker Luis Suarez has accepted a seven-match ban from the Dutch Football Association for biting an opponent.
The 23-year-old bit the shoulder of PSV Eindhoven winger Otman Bakkal during their 0-0 draw in the Eredivisie on Saturday.
The club originally fined Suarez after the incident and banned him for two matches, but they announced on Wednesday that Suarez would accept the seven-match penalty from the Dutch FA.
The ban will mean Suarez is ineligible to play for Ajax in domestic competition until February 4, although he can still line-up for the club in their Champions League clash with AC Milan on December 8.
They Dutch side are out of the running for the knockout stages, but can secure a Europa League berth if they can finish third.
