Suarez determined to stay at Liverpool

Luis Suarez has declared his intention to stay at Liverpool, despite speculation surrounding his future.

The 25-year-old Uruguayan striker has become a fan favourite since joining the Merseyside outfit in January 2011 and has scored 11 goals so far this season.

However, after his recent eight-match ban from the Football Association for racially abusing Manchester United defender Patrice Evra, there had been questions asked about whether he would be keen on leaving England.

Nevertheless, having spoken to the powers that be at Anfield, Suarez has declared himself happy at the club.

“I have spoken with people at the club and they know that I want to stay and that I am enjoying myself and am very happy here,” Suarez told Liverpool’s official website.

“No one at the club has told me that they want to try and sell me or that I will be leaving.”

“I’m going to carry on playing my football here at Liverpool. There are a good few years left on my contract and I want to carry on enjoying myself because both my family and I feel really happy here.”

Suarez went on to dedicate his goal in Liverpool’s 2-1 FA Cup win over Stoke on Sunday to Bolton’s Fabrice Muamba, as the midfielder continues to receive treatment in intensive care after collapsing during a match with Tottenham the day before.

The Reds striker added: “It’s a very difficult moment, and I think it is very important that we show our support, whether it be a message, or any kind of dedication, so that both he and his family know that not just me but the whole of football both here in England and throughout the world are right behind him and hoping that he will recover from his current situation.”
