Liverpool striker Luis Suarez has backed the club’s appointment of Brendan Rodgers as their new manager.
Playing a possession-based style, Swansea City drew admiring glances from all corners under Rodgers last season, finishing 11th in what was their first campaign in the English Premier League.
The Northern Irishman was lured to Anfield earlier this month following the departure of Kenny Dalglish, and Suarez is looking forward to working with his new manager.
“I have to say Swansea were a pleasant surprise in the Premier League,” Suarez said.
“They always tried to play football with short-pass combinations and didn’t care what zone of the field they were at.”
Suarez finished the 2011/12 campaign as Liverpool’s top scorer last season despite serving an eight-game ban for racially abusing Manchester United’s Patrice Evra.
The Uruguay international ended up with 17 goals across all competitions in his first full season in England.
