Liverpool striker Luis Suarez has revealed that he would be open to a move to Ligue 1 side Paris Saint-Germain.
The Uruguayan has recently been linked with a switch to the club, who have significant financial backing, and admitted that he would relish the chance to play with national team captain Diego Lugano.
“Yes, I could go to Paris, like many big teams,” Suarez told French television station Canal+.
“There are many big clubs with such a reputation that want to build a top team and Paris is one of those teams that is recruiting to strengthen.”
“I would love (if Lugano and I) could play together.”
Rumours of Suarez leaving had been met with short shrift by Liverpool manager Kenny Dalglish, who insisted that the French club would be wasting their time in contacting them.
“Nobody has spoken to us but it wouldn’t make any difference,” he told reporters.
“It (PSG) reversed the charges, the call would not get taken. It’s the usual story.”
Suarez has endured a difficult season in England following accusations of racial abuse against Patrice Evra, followed by a lengthy investigation and subsequent eight-game ban.
Meanwhile, another of Suarez’s compatriots, Napoli striker Edinson Cavani, who has been rumoured to be a target for Premier League clubs in the past, also confirmed he has spoken to Lugano about a possible move to PSG.
“I would love to have this experience,” he said. “Diego (Lugano) and I did speak of a transfer.”
