Inter striker David Suazo have joined Benfica on loan, the Portuguese club announced on Friday morning.

The Honduran was set to join Serie A rivals Roma, but the Giallorossi made a move for Monaco ace Jeremy Menez instead. Suazo has also been linked with Palermo in recent weeks.

“I am very pleased to have joined Benfica,” said Suazo.

“I was by convinced Rui Costa, and I know that a really interesting project is in place.”

The 28 year old striker will join Benfica on loan, but it is believed the Portuguese club could have an option to sign Suazo outright next summer.

Suazo joined Inter from Cagliari last summer for 10 million euros, but he failed to impress at his new club.
