Neven Subotic says he signed a contract extension with Borussia Dortmund because he feels the Bundesliga champions have a bright future.
The Serbia international recently extended his current deal to 2014, and is now under contract with BVB until June 2016.
“I’m very pleased with the positive trend over the past few years,” Subotic was quoted as saying on the official Dortmund website.
“There’s a nice road ahead of us. And I only want to go down this road with Borussia Dortmund.
“The contract extensions of other key players were crucial. I would love to see the team remain as it is.
“And when one hot-shot like Shinji Kagawa leaves, another hot-shot like Marco Reus comes in.”
The 24-year-old defender has scored twice in 15 Bundesliga appearances this season.
