Brazil are practically certain to win the South American Sub-20 Championships following a 2-1 victory over Colombia on Friday.
The Brazilians had already won their first three games in this final round and again dominated in the first half against Colombia. Walter opened the score on 30 minutes and Gremio’s Douglas Costa added another five minutes later.
Colombia did better in the second half and Hernan Pertuz converted a penalty in the 73rd minute.
However, Brazil held on to their lead to win their fourth consecutive game at this tournament.
Colombia now need a win over Argentina in the final match and also depends on results at other matches to qualify for July’s Under-21 World Cup.
