Competition: MLS
Market: DC United win
Odds: 3/5 @ Bet 365
With a feeling of optimism around DC United’s new 20,000 seater Audi Field Stadium, looking to pull of a remarkable late push for the playoffs, Ben Olsen’s side will play host to Orlando City in the early hours of Monday morning.
Starting with Ben Olsen’s side, although the hosts may currently still sit bottom in the East, DC have now moved to their new Audi Stadium and with the marquee signing of England’s leading all-time goalscorer Wayne Rooney earlier in the summer, many at DC are feeling optimistic. While they are now eight points adrift of the playoff positions, Olsen’s men do hold five games in hand and coming off the back of a 1-1 draw with Montreal a fortnight ago, United should fancy their chances of coming past an Orlando side drastically short of confidence.
As for the visitors, although Orlando may have enjoyed a solid run of form between March and May, James O’Connor’s side have begun freefalling down the Eastern Conference. Coming off the back of a 3-3 draw with New England last week, The Purples have now remarkably shipped 54 goals in their 23 MLS outings and unsurprisingly hold the worst defensive record in either conference. Now with just one MLS win since May 6th, they have also now lost their last 10 away matches on the bounce.
