Competition: Premier League
Market: Sunderland to draw against West Ham
Odds: 12/5 @ Betfair
Sunderland have a difficult meeting this weekend against West Ham, with the Black Cats enduring a five game winless run. Gus Poyet’s side have picked up four draws in that time, but they desperately need a victory to climb up the table.
With that in mind, it’s perhaps not the best time to face a West Ham side currently fourth in the Premier League table. The Londoners have won three in a row, and have been impressive on the road too, losing just once in their last four away games.
Sunderland know it will be tough this afternoon, and they would regard a point against the high-flying Hammers as a good result, which is likely to see the Black Cats be reserved at the Stadium of Light.
Betfair are giving odds of 12/5 for Sunderland and West Ham to play out a stalemate, which arguably both sides would begrudgingly accept before kickoff. While the North-East club don’t want to get dragged into a relegation battle, they still don’t want to lose a difficult game by trying to win. As for West Ham, Sam Allardyce’s men would be happy extending their unbeaten run to four games in any capacity.
