Competition: League One
Market: Sunderland win
Odds: 3/4 @ Bet 365
Desperate to mount an immediate push back to the Championship, Sunderland will host Wycombe at the Stadium of Light on Saturday.
Starting with Jack Ross’ Sunderland side, while his appointment earlier in the year may have seemed like a strange one, the Balck Cats appear to be adjusting well to life under the former St. Mirren boss. With the chance to leapfrog Portsmouth at the top of the table, Sunderland’s 1-0 win over Morecambe in the EFL Trophy means that the North East side are now enjoying an eight-match winning run. One man to watch for Sunderland will be leading goalscorer Josh Maja. The 19-year-old already has 10 goals this season and now sits third in the League One goalscoring charts.
As for Gareth Ainsworth’s side, although Wycombe may have impressed on route to winning the League Two playoff’s last season, it has been a worrying start to life back in the third-tier. Coming off the back of a 2-0 loss to Luton and crashing out of the FA Cup, the visitors have now lost three of their last four matches and their form on the road will be a huge headache for Ainsworth. Now losing their last three matches away from Adams Park, Wycombe have now not recorded a League One victory away from home since the end of August.
