Sunderland manager Roy Keane is set to make a move for Celtic winger Aiden McGeady in a £10 million deal that will break the Sunderland transfer record, according to the Daily Express.
Keane is said to be an admirer of the Republic of Ireland international and played alongside the winger both at club and international level with Celtic and Ireland.
The Daily Express claims that Sunderland will test Celtic’s resolve by offering £10 million plus striker Anthony Stokes, in order to capture the star. Celtic have expressed interest in Stokes before after impressive performances whilst on loan at SPL side Falkirk by the player.
McGeady, 22, is renowned in Scotland for his skillful style of play and was voted Scotland’s Player of the Year and Scotland’s Young Player of the Year by fellow professionals.
McGeady will be seen as a major coup should Sunderland secure the youngster’s signature after McGeady has been labelled as one of Scotland’s hottest properties. Whilst playing school-boy football McGeady was tracked by a number of top Premiership clubs, with the likes of Arsenal and Manchester United after the winger.
