Sunderland are set to make a surprise move for former Manchester City striker Edin Dzeko, according to the Mail Online.
The North East side are keen to strengthen as they hope for a season without any fears of relegation, having finished in the bottom five in three of the last four Premier League seasons.
Dzeko moved to Roma last summer, and racked up thirty-nine appearances in all competitions in his debut season with the Serie A side, scoring ten goals.
