Sunderland keen on Jenkinson deal

Sunderland have made an approach to sign Carl Jenkinson on loan from Arsenal, according to the Telegraph.

The full-back spent last season with West Ham United, for whom he made thirty-six appearances in all competitions.

Prior to his switch to the Boleyn Ground, the former Charlton Athletic man racked up fifty-seven appearances in all competitions for the Gunners, with his one and only goal for the club coming in his last outing for the club – a 2-0 win over Norwich City in the final game of the 2013/14 campaign.

Arsene Wenger has no intention of selling the one time England international permanently, though could be willing to ship him out on a temporary basis once again with Calum Chambers and Mathieu Debuchy also currently competing for a starting berth at right back for the North London club.

Jenkinson’s one and only cap for his country came as Roy Hodgson’s side lost 4-2 to Sweden in a friendly at the Friends Arena in November 2012.
