Sunderland are keen on re-signing Aston Villa’s Kieran Richardson, according to the Mirror.
The Black Cats currently sit bottom of the Premier League after losing both of their opening to fixtures, conceding seven goals in the process, and manager Dick Advocat is looking for reinforcements.
The thirty year old spent five years at the Stadium of Light before moving on to Fulham and then to Villa last summer.
During his time with the North East outfit, he played one hundred and forty-nine times in all competitions, scoring fifteen goals.
Richardson began his career with Manchester United and has also had a loan spell with West Bromwich Albion, while internationally he has eight senior caps and two goals for England.
Sunderland will hope to pick up their first points of the season as they host Swansea City on Saturday afternoon, and the home win can be backed at a price of 13/5.
