Sunderland has signed Dutch midfielder Boudewijn Zenden on a free transfer. The 33-year-old has signed a deal until the end of the season with an option for a further year.
Zenden left Olympique Marseille this summer and joins The Black Cats after an impressing training spell at the Wearside.
Sunderland is currently awaiting international clearance for the player, who could be in line for a place in the squad against former club Liverpool this weekend.
Sunderland is Zenden`s fourth English club. He already spent five seasons in the Premier League with Chelsea, Middlesbrough and Liverpool.
