French media outlet L’Equipe understands that Sunderland have all but reached an agreement to sign Gabonese midfielder Didier Ndong from Lorient.
It is believed that the Premier League side will pay close to €20 million for the 22-year-old footballer, who has left the Gabon national team camp to fly to England.
The Black Cats manager David Moyes decided to make a move on Ndong as both Lee Cattermole and Jan Kirchhoff are struggling through injury at the moment.
Even so, they appear set to pay over the top for the talented midfielder, who only has two Ligue 1 campaigns behind him.
After starting his career at CS Sfaxien, Ndong moved to Lorient in January 2015 and he quickly went on to nail down a regular starting berth at Stade Yves Allainmat.
The holding midfielder fared pretty well in the 48 matches he played in Ligue 1 as he clearly did enough to secure a lucrative move to English Premier League
