Premier League basement club Sunderland are considering a January bid for Marseille midfielder Alaixys Romao, according to L’Equipe.
The Black Cats have shown some improvement of late, but they remain three points adrift of safety and are 2/9 favourites to go down.
Sunderland have been desperately looking for reinforcements ever since the January window started and their attention now turns to Alaixys Romao.
The Black Cats are reportedly readying a bid for the 32-year-old footballer, who will be out of contract at the end of the current campaign.
The problem is that Romao has been offered a two-year extension at Stade Velodrome, while he also has proposals from Toulouse and Al-Ahli Djeddah.
Romao, who is also capable of operating as a centre-back, has spent last three and a half years at Stade Velodrome having joined from Lorient, making a total of 97 league appearances and scoring 4 goals in the process.
