Sunderland Echo has suggested that the Black Cats can turn Ondrej Celustka’s loan deal into permanent move for £2.5 million.
The Czech defender joined Sunderland on loan from Trabzonspor just a couple of days before the Premier League campaign started, but he largely impressed in the opening three fixtures.
Everybody at the club has been surprised by how quickly the defender adapted to Premiership demands, having missed the entire pre-season.
As a result, Sunderland plan to buy the player outright from the Turkish giants and Sunderland Echo has learned that it would take mere £2.5 million to tie down the 24-year-old to a long-term contract.
Ondrej Celustka spent two years at Trabzonspor after joining from Slavia Prague, making a total of 55 Turkish Super Lig appearances for the club.
Since arriving at the Stadium of Light, the Czech has started all four competitive fixtures, including the Capital One Cup match against Milton Keynes Dons.
