French daily newspaper L’Equipe has learned that the likes of Sunderland and Villarreal are showing interest in Marseille winger Romain Alessandrini.
The 25-year-old joined OM from Rennes last summer, but he has had a difficult start to his career at Stade Velodrome.
Having started just two league matches in the first part of the season, Alessandrini was linked with a January exit, and L’Equipe has now revealed that both Sunderland and Villarreal attempted to recruit the highly rated footballer last winter.
However, Alessandrini ultimately rejected the proposals as he wanted to fight for his place in Marcelo Bielsa’s side.
The winger has made a total of 18 league appearances this term, starting 6 of those matches, and his chances of regular playing time could improve when Andre Ayew leaves.
It remains to be seen whether his suitors will rekindle their interest in the summer transfer window, and if Allesandrini will consider leaving Stade Velodrome.
