Blackburn Rovers have opened negotiations with Swiss defender Scott Sutter, according to the player’s club Young Boys of Bern.
Sutter, 25, who is originally from Enfield but holds dual nationality, has left Young Boy’s training camp in southern Spain to meet with the English Premier League club.
A move back home for the right-back would reportedly fulfil a lifelong dream for the player.
Sutter last played in England with Charlton Athletic, whom he left in 2002.
In a statement on Young Boys’ official website, the club confirmed that the defender has been given permission to negotiate a contract with Blackburn.
Rovers are currently 18th in England’s top flight and host sixth-placed Newcastle United on Wednesday in their next league fixture.
