Swansea admit star duo could leave; Maicon linked with Russia move

hot-transfer-newsSwansea admit star duo could leave

Swansea assistant manager Alan Curtis has moved to suggest that Ashley Williams and Michel Vorm could be sold at the end of the season.

The two players have been integral to club’s success over the last two seasons and their impressive showings did not go unnoticed.

Top Premier League sides are now lining up for Williams and Vorm, and this is the first time that someone from the club have confirmed the duo might leave the club this summer.

“With the likes of Ashley Williams and Michel Vorm there is a possibility they could move on, but that’s the same every season,” Swansea assistant manager Alan Curtis said to talkSPORT.

Swansea captain Ashley Williams has been linked with Manchester United, Arsenal and Liverpool, and this could be his last chance to join a top European club.

Michel Vorm is believed to be on Arsenal radar, and the Swans are unlikely to stand in his way given that Gerhard Tremmel has done brilliantly every time he was called upon this season.

Maicon linked with Russia move

Manchester City full-back Douglas Maicon could be moving to Russia in the summer transfer window, according to Izvestia.

The 31-year-old only joined the Citizens last summer, but he has been unable to nail down a regular starting berth due to fierce competition for places and a selection of injuries.

As a result, the experienced defender is almost certainly set to leave Eastlands in the summer, but his representative is adamant that Maicon will only join a club that secure Champions League qualification.

“We have only one condition – the club must participate in the UEFA Champions League,” agent Roberto Calenda explained to Izvestia.

“Maicon is only 31, and he can continue to play at the highest level.”

The Brazilian is eager to get back into the national team ahead of the 2014 World Cup, and that is the main reason why he is looking to leave at the end of the season.

Izvestia understands that Russian giants Zenit and Anzhi are keeping close tabs on the former Inter Milan star.

Newcastle keen on Celtic star

Daily Mirror is reporting that Newcastle are pondering a summer move for Celtic defender Kelvin Wilson.

The Magpies boosted their back line with Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa in January, but with Fabricio Coloccini set for a return to Argentina, Alan Pardew is likely to enter the market for a new centre-back.

According to Daily Mirror, Newcastle boss has set his sights on Celtic stopper Kelvin Wilson.

Club scout Steve Stone watched the player as Celtic shared spoils with St Mirren at the weekend, and everything suggests an official bid will soon follow.

Wilson, 27, joined the Bhoys in a low-profile move from Nottingham Forest, but has largely impressed with his rock-solid displays in this year’s Champions League.

Alan Pardew is convinced the player has what it takes to succeed at St James Park and is expected to try and lure Wilson to the North East in the summer.
